I was a big fan of the tv show Monk growing up, about a man suffering from intensive OCD that happens to make him a great detective. Friday nights on the USA network, yes, those were the days! Something Missing takes this premise, and flips it, centering on Martin, a OCD thief who only steals things that go unnoticed from others’ homes. I’ve read it twice now, and it makes for a quick, enjoyable read. It’s fascinating to read Martin’s methods of thievery, and as the tension ramps up so does the difficulty in putting the book down. I suppose the term “beach read” is adept for this book, as it’s breezy fun. I don’t read fiction often anymore, so a nice diversion like this is welcome time to time.
