WIC, WIC, WIC Is Your Friend
WIC, or, Women, Infants, and Children, is a government program similar to SNAP, but with specific nutritional guidelines. I’ve looked through my state’s WIC Food Guide many times, as I find it very helpful when trying to figure out how to get a balanced diet on a budget. It’s a handy guide for those new to shopping for themselves (college students), as well as those looking for nutritional foods on a budget. But do yourself a favor and skip the cereals. Though WIC requires people to buy the most economical sizes, cereal is still the most expensive breakfast food per ounce you can buy. Save your money and eat oatmeal and fresh fruit instead.
